I have to say, the dog classes would have been a lot better had the judge’s microphone worked, but there were some adorable pooches there. We also enjoyed the ‘professional’ dogs doing tricks and dances. Look at the lovely Staffy doing his routine! – shortly after I took this, his owner fell over spectacularly. Other highlights were the dog who ran into the crowd, and the dog who sniffed out the spilled biscuits on the grass and got very distracted.
There was also a display of vintage Jaguar cars. Pretty.
We didn’t go into the castle itself (additional charge for this), but really, it was such a beautiful day we thought we'd save it for another time. Hever Castle has 125 acres of gardens, incorporating mazes, rose and herb gardens, topiary animals, a huge boating lake with a pagoda, an adventure playground, a collection of model houses, cafés selling the nicest brownies I've ever tasted… plenty to spend a whole day on, easily.
They also have a b&b onsite, which I would LOVE to stay at (access to the grounds after everyone else leaves for the day!), but unfortunately their stupid booking system makes it totally impossible to check availability! Grr
And a post wouldn't be a post without:
